What We Do

At the Interlink Foundation, we are committed to uplifting voices that have been erased or excluded from mainstream narratives, with the aim of informing and expanding public discourse, preserving culture, and building community.

In collaboration with numerous organizations, including Interlink Publishing Group–the leading publisher of Middle Eastern books and the only Palestinian-owned publishing house in the US–The Interlink Foundation is well-placed to platform emerging and established writers in the North American literary landscape, through publishing, advocacy, mentorship and education. Our programming and goals include:

  • Amplifying Banned & Censored Voices Bringing powerful, often-suppressed narratives to North American readers. We provide resources and infrastructure to writers whose work is susceptible to censorship or exclusion from traditional publishing avenues.
  • Enabling Author Research Developing specialized, high-production book concepts, building on the existing literary work Interlink has championed, which is limited by the slim margins of the for-profit publishing model.
  • Championing and Supporting Translations Ensuring that important works of fiction and nonfiction by foreign writers are accessible to American readers who might not otherwise encounter them, increasing cross-pollination between readers, writers, scholars, and educators across borders.
  • Archiving Culture Keeping available important works as archival documentation of distinct moments in ever-evolving cultures, with the aim of combatting erasure.
  • Author Tours & Speaking Events Utilizing Interlink Publishing’s specialized networks and partnering with like-minded literary organizations (independent bookstores, libraries, cultural centers, art organizations, colleges and universities, and others) sponsor events by literary and thought leaders that spark important conversations and inform public debate. Past Interlink-sponsored events include Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Linda Sarsour, Cornel West, among others.
  • Mentorship for Emerging Writers Supporting and developing new literary talent within diaspora communities through editorial guidance, publicity support, and industry expertise.
  • Annual Writers’ Retreats Fostering networks of support, building community, and providing dedicated time and space for veteran and emerging writers from underrepresented backgrounds to hone their craft.
  • Community-Based Events Facilitating local community events around literacy and advocacy, building on the success of Interlink’s Read & Resist Festival, an annual gathering that celebrates radical storytelling, fosters community building, and challenges the status quo.
  • Internship Program A frequently cited reason for excluding translations or marginalized narratives from mainstream publishing is a lack of editorial expertise in these areas. In collaboration with Interlink Publishing, we offer a robust internship program to foster the next generation of publishing professionals, equipping them with the tools to challenge these barriers.

In preserving cultural heritage and amplifying voices too often pushed to the margins, we are building a more just and inclusive literary landscape—one that refuses to be silenced. Join us in amplifying the stories that shape our world.
